Dan Yaccarino's picturebook biography, 'The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau,' unveils the captivating journey of Jacques Cousteau, a legendary ocean explorer and the world’s most renowned advocate for marine conservation. Known for bringing the mysterious depths of the sea into the comfort of homes through his widely watched TV series, Cousteau introduced viewers to enchanting marine creatures such as whales, otters, and dolphins. This book provides a glimpse into Cousteau’s life from his early fascination with the ocean, sparked by his first underwater experience, to his expeditions on the Calypso. Alongside a dedicated team of scientists, he pioneered the development of diving equipment and waterproof cameras, creating groundbreaking films, television shows, and books to share his discoveries. More so, as Cousteau witnessed the detrimental impacts of pollution on marine environments, he also took on the mantle of guiding global efforts in ocean conservation.
Artist and freelance illustrator Dan Yaccarino graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York in 1987.
