Hampton Sides received a BA in history from Yale University. He is editor-at-large for Outside Magazine and has also written for National Geographic, The New Yorker, Esquire, Preservation, and Men's Journal. His magazine work has been nominated twice for National Magazine Awards for feature writing. He is the author of several books including Ghost Soldiers, Blood and Thunder, Hellhound on His Trail, and In the Kingdom of Ice.
