Corin Tellado was born Maria del Socorro Tellado Lopez in Viavelez, Spain on April 25, 1927. She was educated in a school run by nuns in Cadiz. Her first novel, Atrevida Apuesta (Daring Bet), was published in 1946 when she was 19-years-old. During her lifetime, she wrote about 4,000 books including Luna Oculta (1991) and sold over 400 million copies. Her novels were different from other contemporary European romantic writers' works because she primarily set them in the present and did not use eroticism. She also wrote under the pseudonyms Ada Miller Leswy and Ada Miller. She died on April 11, 2009 at the age of 81.
