A Look at Literacy in 2015

Every year, UNESCO observes International Literacy Day, a time to take a step back and take stock of the state of literacy around the world, and provide updates on progress. The good news is that that needle is moving — literacy rates are rising among both youth and adults. But with 757 million adults worldwide lacking basic literary skills, two-thirds of whom are women, and with the number of out-of-school children and adolescents continuing to rise, a lot of work still needs to be done.

Shopping at Better World Books continues to be a great way to support literacy and the best way to buy used books. For every book purchased from our website a book is donated. Additionally, funds raised from every purchase go toward supporting literacy worldwide. To thank you for helping us do more for literacy, please enjoy a weeklong sale for big savings on orders of four (4) or more used books in the Bargain Bin that ship from us.

*Sale IS valid on all used books in Bargain Bin that ship from Better World Books. Sale is NOT valid on new books or books that ship from other sellers.
