For the Love of Literacy
We are very proud of the funding we have generated for literacy and education programs worldwide. Check out our impact around the world.
BWB General Literacy Fund
Better World Books is one of the largest socially-responsible booksellers in the world. At the heart of the company is a passion for literacy and education. As a Founding B Corporation, Better World Books upholds its commitment to serve its social mission as well as the environment. Supporting literacy and education with every book sold has been an initiative of the company since it was founded. Grants support the needs of libraries and non-profits serving literacy and education in their communities. And with every book we sell, we donate one, Book for Book™.
The National Center for Families Learning
The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL's) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping adults and children learn together. Represented by resources such as Wonderopolis.org®, NCFL creates and deploys innovative strategies and programs that support learning, literacy, and family engagement across the educational spectrum. From the classroom to the community to the digital frontier, NCFL collaborates with educators, advocates, and policy-makers to help families construct hotspots for learning wherever they go.
Room to Read
Room to Read has developed a holistic, multi-pronged approach to help children in the developing world gain the lifelong gift of education. The approach includes building schools, establishing bilingual libraries, publishing local language books, establishing computer labs and funding long-term girls' scholarships. Since its inception in 2000, Room to Read has impacted the lives of over 1.7 million children.
Books for Africa
Books for Africa (BFA) is a simple name for a simple organization with a simple mission. BFA collects, sorts, ships and distributes books to children in Africa. The goal: to end the book famine in Africa. Since 1988, BFA has shipped more than 24 million books. They are on once-empty library shelves, in classrooms in rural schools and in the hands of children who have never held a book before.
