Mission: Read and Return will bring books to children and children to the library.
It’s like an ice cream truck - only with books. It’s like a bookmobile – only on foot. Throughout the summer, we will walk through the neighborhoods surrounding the library during the early evening, pulling a little red wagon filled with paperback books and offering them for loan to children. We will also hand out information about the many fun events for children at our library.
Children who bring the books back to the library will be entered into a raffle for weekly prizes. By the end of the summer neighborhood children will be hooked on reading and using the library. Library staff will get fresh air and exercise; we will get to know our neighbors; books will be delivered with zero greenhouse gas emissions, and children will visit the library, have fun and read more books.
