Impact: Eight Muskogee Oklahoma Schools received high quality children's books that were distributed to families of the schools. The total donation of books is estimated to be worth $125,000.

Better World Books and Feed the Children have worked together to provide hundreds of thousands of gently used children's books to children and families in need across the country. It's a natural partnership - Feed the Children delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty or natural disasters, and books are one of those essentials. Literacy is a key element required to break the cycle of poverty. And that's what Better World Books is all about.

This distribution of books happened in preparation for Read Across America day, which falls on Dr. Seuss's birthday, and expects to see readers, both young and old, pick up a book and read. The goal of the celebration is to show America's children the joy of reading and build a nation of readers on March 2 and every day. In 2010, nearly 45 million children and adults celebrated National Education Association's Read Across America.

Needless to say, the children and families in Muskogee were delighted. We hope these books inspire their young minds for years to come.
