Product Description
Why You Really Hurt is the story of how one bone in your foot could be the real reason for pains thru out your whole body. This book is important because it offers the public new information about why millions of people suffer everyday with aches and pains, and offers new hope to get rid of problems they believed they would have to live with for ever.
Mortons Toe can cause the following problems; back pain, hip pain, knee pain, leg pain, plantar fasciitis, calf pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, corns and calluses, bunions, fallen arches, ankle pain, heel pain, arch pain, weak ankles, hammer toes, tired feet (all over), neuromas, burning feet, shooting pains in the toes, stress and march fractures, night cramps (restless leg syndrome), temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), diabetic foot ulcers.
Millions of people suffer every day, with these torments and do not know why. I believe that in many cases Morton's Toe is the explanation for this WHY, and the reason for aches and pains not only in their back, knee, and hip but also in alot other places in their body.

Finally no aching feet!! Mar 26, 2009 (2 of 2 found this helpful)
WHY YOU REALLY HURY by Dr. Burton Schuler is really a breath of fresh air.
I have learned so much about why my wife and I have had foot problems. I walk a lot and find myself with aching feet all the time. Now with the information I found in Dr.Schuler's book I see why I have been hurting and best of all how to avoid the pain. Ma lot of pain.
I also liked the way Dr. Schuler explains the problems in layman's terms and not like other medical books I have read where they talk over the average persons head. The history aspect of the book was also very entertaining.
I really give this book 5 Stars.

Finally, a book which explains away the pain! Mar 12, 2009 (2 of 2 found this helpful)
What makes this book great is that it is simply just an honest effort to help a great many people find relief from a common, but little known condition that is very curable. Dr. Schuler turns complex medical jargon into language the layman can understand, with pictures to show exactly what he is talking about, how to treat the condition and how to relieve the pain. The well thought out format and documentation is testament to the author, who is not hyping a gimmick to make himself rich or famous, but just helping people find relief from everyday pain, based on the lessons learned from a lifetime of treating this condition. I especially enjoyed the historical anecdote about the note from RFK to George McGovern that indicated that without Dr. Travell's (JFK's personal physician) treatment of this condition in JFK, he would never have been able to be president.

A Simple, Effective Solution for Me Mar 8, 2009 (2 of 2 found this helpful)
I have had Fibromyalgia most of my life, so I am well aware of all the scams out there promising complete, immediate pain relief. I recently started a job where I was standing all day, and developed some really bad lower back pain. A friend referred me to this book after I determined I had a "Morton's Toe." I figured "What the heck, I'll try this toe pad thing. I'll only be out a couple of bucks if it doesn't work." Boy, what a surprise! The very first day I wore the toe pads, my pain was about 80% gone and has stayed that way ever since! I will recommend this book to everyone I know with chronic pain! Dr. Schuler is excellent at putting complicated medical information into easy to understand terms for regular people. If it doesn't work for you, it could work for someone you know, so this book is worth every penny!

Must read for people with foot problems Oct 21, 2009 (1 of 1 found this helpful)
I first heard Schuler on NPR a few months ago. He had a few minutes during a show where another podiatrist had most of the hour. Schuler made a lot of sense, and had a sincere and likeable voice. The other doctor seemed to pass off Schuler's information as questionable at best.
I ordered this book not long after, and am happy I did. This book explains the mystery of so many of the problems we suffer from, which most podiatrists have little clue about. I have not tried wearing the recommended toe pad for long enough to notice a major difference in anything, but it was simple to make--just buy some moleskin with adhesive on one side and stick it to an insole.
Simple enough, but I can see how it may get troublesome after a while to keep up on making toe pads. It is cheap, but the convenience of an orthotic that will last a few years seems preferable to me. Hopefully orthotics can have the feature of a raised big toe pretty soon.
The book has a lot of spelling errors and mistakes, but is easy to read, and quick to get through. There are good pictures and diagrams and instructions for making the toe pad. It is worth a shot for anyone who has has a morton toe.

Wonderful therapy for those afflicted with morton's toe Nov 15, 2009
This is a wonderful book, deeply researched, based on solid empirical evidence, and wonderfully written. Dr. Burton S. Schuler is the pre-eminent expert in the field of morton's toe - where the first toe and metatarsal bone is shorter than the second toe and metatarsal bone - and how if can affect you whole body in negative ways. He also provides a very simple solution that is cheap and effective. This is also an especially useful book for high-mileage runners with the condition, and can help stop the late stage hperpronation of the big toe upon footstrike, which makes effective toe off difficult, and puts all the pressure on the second metatarsal. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
