Being a Titanic buff, I'm intrigued with anything new about the sinking. This book had some interesting tidbits and speculations, but I got kind of lost in all the technological terms and theories. I did learn a few new things, however - some not so savory, like the indiscriminate and heinous pillaging of artifacts that has taken place at the site since it's discovery and the frenetic desire for everyone to make a buck off Titanic - things you don't read or hear about often. Also, despite the technical stuff, I learned more about the steel and rivets used on the ship and how their poor quality and/or installation could have contributed to the unusually fast sinking of the ship.

A little bit technical in places but none the less being a Titanic buff I enjoyed reading this.

This is a great read and a fun introduction to materials science---and I'm not just saying that because I know the author!
