Nyroc is all that his ambitious mother could want. A terrific flyer for one so young, obedient and very promising, Nyroc is going to be his evil father's heir. Yes, this seventh book represents a new direction for the series. It seems that Soren's story reached its closure at the end of The Burning, so now we step into the shoes (er, talons) of young Nyroc. Now, don't go running and screaming. This is not that MISTAKE of a book, The Shattering. Fortuneately, Nyroc is far more fleshed out and rounded than Eglantine was. The narration manages to capture all the magic of the previous books, but the new storyline is a great breath of fresh air. This new character provides a whole new set of plot hooks, mysteries, and legends, all of which I found very enjoyable. I was also pleased to see that, near the end of the book, Otulissa really comes into the spotlight. She had become one of my favorite characters, and she's obviously going to play a big role in the books to come. In short, this is a new beginning for the Guardians of Ga'hoole, but the epic themes remain strong. This, combined with liberal references to the rest of the series, make The Hatchling an obvious choice for fans.
This was a great book and i was very glad i read it. this book was a real page-turner and i would realy reccomend it.The book was at its best when Nyroc A.Statred his 'Quest' B.Nyroc beggan seeing scrooms And C. When Nyroc learned about his 'Special' Ceremony. I was at the edge of my seat through the whole book!This book is for the people out there who just wish to 'fly away' from their busy life.(if you are busy that is!)this is also for fans of Soren and Gylfie.(and Digger and Twilight!)this was a great book!
I just don't get how it went from the first 6 books in Sorens point of veiw, and all of a sudden, he's only a background character for some new guy who's great at every thing except being evil. But it's still a pretty good book on how he tries(and succeeds) to ascape from his evil mom, Nyra, Metalbeak's widow.
