Fantastic book that goes far beyond being just a read about Girlfriend Getaways. Originally, I picked up this book about a week prior to heading out of town with my boyfriend. While reading it, we decided to take a handful of the suggestions, put them to good use, and make a couple of stops during our adventure along the eastern seaboard. The reviews on Charleston and Savannah sold us on making two stops along the way and the suggestions were fun and spot on. This book has now been added to my "go to" books prior to making any kind of trip; whether it's an hour away or across the country. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to travel or just explore somewhere new. It certainly gets a thumbs up.
I usually have an annual trip with this group of friends that I've known my whole life. This book was on display at my library and so I picked it up to thumb through on my lunch break. My theory is that you can tell a lot about a travel book if there is a section on a town you know well. In this book, there was a section on Seattle. The suggested things to do here? Go to Pike Place Market and go eat salmon on the Tillicum cruise. These are fine things to do, sure, but any person who enters the city limits of Seattle is going to be directed to these things. What's next, you gonna sucgest we go to the Space Needle? This didn't bode well for the rest of the advice being doled out, is all I'm saying.
A kid's book that adults can enjoy because of brilliant layered story lines.
