Product Description

Adapted from the original bestselling novel, The Christmas Sweater: A Picture Book is the story of a young boy who finds the true meaning of Christmas in the most unlikely of places. Eddie wants a bicycle for Christmas, but his mother knits him a homemade sweater instead. His disappointment is obvious, but a magical journey makes Eddie realize that the sweater is far more than it seems. Ultimately it teaches him that the true meaning of a gift is that it is given with love.

  • Rating We Love It  Oct 27, 2009 (88 of 97 found this helpful)

My family and I loved The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck, so I just had to have this picture book to share with the little ones. The story is well-told, beautifully illustrated, and teaches the true meaning of love. This is going to be a book we read each year on Christmas Eve. It would also make wonderful Christmas gifts for children.

  • Rating Wonderful family book!  Oct 28, 2009 (66 of 75 found this helpful)

I loved this book and look forward to sharing it with my children. So many children are unaware of the true meaning of Christmas and love and this hits home.

  • Rating Very nice story for young kids  Oct 28, 2009 (61 of 70 found this helpful)

A very nice story for young children. This adaptation of the original book and the illustrations are both very well done and well suited for children,. Whatever you think of Mr. Beck's politics, this is a very good story and transcends all political boundaries. I will soon have enough grandchildren to field a softball team, (2 months and counting), and I will ensure that they all have a copy of this book. Kudos to Mr. Beck and his Staff!

  • Rating Kathy  Oct 28, 2009 (54 of 63 found this helpful)

I bought this book last year and it has circled the family. Not only virtually, so that all the family could read and share in it's pureness and simplicity, but also be encircled by the love it brings. Glenn is such a wonderful writer and has such an innocent view of childhood - just the way it really should be. Thanks, Glenn, for sharing your heart with the world!

  • Rating Excellent book!  Nov 5, 2009 (24 of 28 found this helpful)

I read this book to my eight year old daughter and three year old son, last evening just before bed, and they sat spellbound at the pictures and the content. The themes of the book when he was dreaming are things that we have done with them (sledding with dad, making gingerbread houses with mom), and they instantly connected with what the book was about - family is more important than gifts...

At the very end of the book, he realizes that giving mom a hug is more valuable than a brand new bike. So, I sent the kids over to mommy to give her a hug, which she really needed at that moment - we have a 9 week old son with an ear infection, and she'd had a long day. Alebeit unrelated to the book, to a degree, it was special for my wife to get a hug from her kids after reading the book!

I highly recommend this book! In a very subtle way, it teaches that love is more valuable than any material gain.

Oh - I nearly failed to mention, after I read the book to my kids, my 8-year old went to bed, and my 3-year old jumped back in my lap, grabbed the book, and said "Again!" Naturally, I read it again...
