  Lots of great recipes. Lots of helpful tips. Cooking Basics shows different types of knifes, cookware, description of different herbs and what you can substitute for them. The pages with tabs have everything on them for that section and the page number so it is quick to look something up. Really like that they have low fat recipes and they tag them as such. The book also tags meals that are fast and vegetarian. Also like that it has a binder so you can remove the page of the recipe you want to use. Love this book and highly recommend it.

  We purchased this as an upgrade and replacement for an older version of the same book. The recipes are larger so there is no need to use triple batches for our large family and there's enough left over for lunch at work the next day. One of the two rivits came loose during shipping but Amazon was so good at replacing it that we got the new book before we could send back the old one.

  I have a collection of the Better Homes Cook Books and love them all. This is special because it has recipes from different "famous" people, Paula Deen to name one and we all love Paula. I have ordered one for my daughters and my sisters for Christmas. In addition to all the delicious recipes, you are also donating to a cause that has or will touch most all our lives at one time or another. Buy it, you will not regret it.

  I bought this from the Bargain Bin, so I knew it might have a nick or two. But, a cookbook needs to look used, right? And, the price was great. But, it was disappointing to receive the book and the top rivet that holds the binder in place was missing. The whole book would fall apart if this wasn't resolved. Luckily, I'm handy with tools and I just drilled out the defective rivet and replaced it with another one. Maybe not quite as professional looking, but it does the job.

  They just don't make 'em like they used to. Got this book for Christmas and by March both rivets had broken off. There are some really yummy recipes though, especially the beans and rice.
