Customer Reviews

  • Rating A Fantastic Resource for Going Green  Nov 14, 2006 (47 of 47 found this helpful)

Greg Horn did an excellent job with this book! It's very comprehensive, realistic and empowering. It explains the effects on the environment from the food we eat, the products we use, the energy choices we make and how our homes are built. The best part is his very specific recommendations in each chapter. Some of the life changes are quick and easy and others require longer term planning.

Horn doesn't sugar coat the disturbing facts about our current environmental problems but focuses on the many potential solutions. Some of the content of this book may be a bit shocking to people who haven't read environmental literature lately, but fortunately Horn balances every problem with one or more solutions. After reading the book, I feel informed and empowered that I am making choices that are making a real difference.

  • Rating Worry less, do more  Dec 7, 2006 (18 of 19 found this helpful)

The environmental crisis seems overwhelming and you, as one person, may feel like there's so little you can do. But that's not the case, and this book shows you the way. You don't have to completely change your life (although you can pretty much do so, if you choose, with the information in Living Green) to make a difference. From recycling just that little bit more, to reducing your water and power consumption in simple, painless ways, the book is filled with tips that prove you CAN make a difference. It's an easy, enlightening read that helps you take a fresh look at items and behaviors in your everyday life that you can make greener.

  • Rating Reading this cannot hurt!  Nov 8, 2007 (13 of 13 found this helpful)

I have now purchased 5 copies of this book. Living Green is a very simple book, outlining many concerns of unhealthy living. There is no way I could possible do all of the green suggestions mentioned in this book, but after reading this book, I know I can do my part. I've passed this book on to many people and will continue to do so!

Too many "green" books read like catalogs meant to help you order "green" items. This book does not read like a buyer's guide.

  • Rating Good all around primer and reference  Jan 15, 2007 (23 of 26 found this helpful)

This book was handed out to the crowd at a global warming talk I went to. Although the talk did little to address what we all need to be doing, this book filled the void.
This book is small enough not to deter the less informed or skeptical reader, yet detailed enough to keep the envirowarrior's attention. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone wishing to fine-tune his/her healthy living skills.

  • Rating Wow! I am blown away by this little green book.   Apr 26, 2007 (12 of 14 found this helpful)

If you only have time to pick up one book on green living, do yourself a big favor and buy this one. This slim, green laminated "bible" of a book will quickly educate and guide you on positive steps you can make right now to improve your health, your home and the world around you. It's thoroughly researched, well organized and engagingly written for folks like you and me; frankly I couldn't put it down. For once, I don't feel lost in the jungle of environmental choices. Greg Horn's book left me feeling empowered, clear on the changes I wish to make, and well-armed with the resources to do so. Would make a great gift for everyone on your list, too. Highly recommend this one--don't pass it up.
