Product Description

Striking an optimum, user-friendly balance between basic and more advanced content, this is the ideal text for your program's Kinesiology course. A clear and logical presentation of the basic theory of joint structure and muscle action provides the foundation necessary to understand both normal and pathologic functions. Full-color, well-referenced, up-to-date research and the liberal use of figures, examples, and tables make this the most comprehensive text on the market.

- A clear and logical presentation of the basic theory of joint structure and muscle action provides students with the foundation necessary to understand both normal and pathologic functions.
- Applying functional anatomy to locomotion, the text focuses on normal structure and function rather than specific patient problems to better facilitate understanding of how deviations from normal may create or underlie dysfunction. Learning the normal is fundamental for students.
- New patient cases are woven through each chapter, to apply the content and ground students in clinical relevance
- An extensive new art program, including photographs, radiographs, and scans, reinforces a new perspective on the material and enhances visual learning
- Thirteen new contributors provide added scientific expertise, and infuse the text with a more practical and clinical perspective
- Call-out boxes that include case applications, periodic summaries, and advanced concepts broaden the scope of the content while also providing direction for challenge and growth.

  • Rating Very informative  May 25, 2000 (33 of 33 found this helpful)

This book gives a good and detailed explanation of the the human skeletal structure. The type and function of a joint, the funtions of the ligaments arount a joint, the functions of the muscles around a joint. Not only do the authors explain how each and every joint specifically works but also how the joints work together to do a specific movement along with which muscles are involved. This is a book for anybody interested in studying the musculoskeletal system in detail.

  • Rating not bad !  Jan 9, 2004 (7 of 8 found this helpful)

This book is the shorter-black-and-white version of Moore's & Dailey Clinical Oriented Anatomy book. It is quite simple and the illustrations are not Dali's impressions of the female anatomy but for the need-to-know-basis Physical Therapy student it is quite suffiecient.

It is excellent with its questions at the end of each chapter !

  • Rating The new edition is an improvement for sure  May 30, 2007 (3 of 3 found this helpful)

I am glad I purchased the updated edition. It has a lot more information and better pictures than the second edition. The case studies they present are a considerably helpful edition as they present the patients symptoms of different pathologies they are profiling, along with the structural and soft tissue components of various pathologies they are describing.

  • Rating Definitely comrehensive  Jul 2, 2007 (2 of 2 found this helpful)

Lots of technical information. Useful stuff but not an easy read. Wish it could be broken down into basic concepts then advanced details if needed.

  • Rating Joint and Structure - too complicated  Sep 30, 2007 (2 of 3 found this helpful)

This book is required for my class and is terribly wordy and complicated! I think that more pictorial instruction would be greatly beneficial. A supplemental DVD to show examples of clinical scenarios would also be helpful for visual learners.
