Helping
Rebuild New Orleans Public Library
During the volunteer days (ALA New Orleans), workers at the Algiers Regional Branch
sorted through thousand of books that have been donated to New Orleans Public Library
from across the country for addition to the library’s collection, distribution to
local community groups, and resale. In an effort to alleviate the large quantities
of donations NOPL has received since Hurricane Katrina, over 60 ALA volunteers spent
two eight-hour days sorting and packing books at the Algiers branch. Better World
Books is actively selling these books in order to help
Rebuild NOPL.

Testimonials

A few
words from some happy librarians!
"At Grasselli Library of John Carroll University, we used to have a huge book sale
every summer over alumni weekend. It took space to store the books all year and
staff time to put them out and to work the sale. Since we began sending our extras
and discards to Better World Books our lives are simpler. We accumulate only enough
books for a shipment, pack them in supplied boxes, and send them off. We have freed
space and staff time with this solution!"
--Ruth Connell
Grasselli Library, John Carroll University
"Your service has taken care of a great need here; we are in the midst of a heavy
weed of our collection, and it's a great relief not to have to cart boxes of books
down the steep basement stairs for storage - and then back up again for sale!"
--Nancy Ashmore
Director, Prairie du Chien Memorial Library
