2. What's the condition of this book?

The book information will note the condition. We grade our books based on these guidelines:
  • NEW: Just what it says, direct from the publisher or distributor.
  • LIKE NEW: Could easily be mistaken for brand new. Undamaged cover, no missing pages, all pages undamaged (no creases or tears), no underlining/highlighting of text, no damage to binding, no writing in margins. If the book normally has a dust jacket, the jacket is included. This book may be an overstock/remainder.
  • VERY GOOD: In great condition for a used book. Has been read but has no easily noticeable damage to the cover, all pages are present and undamaged (no creases or tears), minimal underlining/highlighting of text (perhaps on a few pages), no writing in margins, very minimal identifying marks inside cover, very minimal wear and tear. May be ex-library, with usual treatments; if so, the book will be noted as such in the comments.
  • GOOD: Very minimal damage to the cover (no holes or tears, only minimal scuff marks), dust jacket not necessarily included, minimal wear to binding, majority of pages undamaged (minimal creases or tears), highlighting/underlining acceptable on textbooks as long as text is readable and it is not an excessive amount, no missing pages. May be ex-library with usual treatments; if so, the book will be noted as such in the comments.
  • ACCEPTABLE: These are books that have been saved from being unnecessarily discarded. This book has a lot of history, but still deserves a loving home. Some significant wear to the cover but still intact; binding may be slightly weak. There might be writing in margins, or underlining/highlighting of text; there are no missing pages. If this item is ex-library with usual treatments or has some unusual or severe type of damage, such as water or binding, it will be noted in the comments.

3. Does the book come with the CD or workbook?

Before making your selection, we encourage you to check the handy comments we list for your convenience. If you still have questions about the book, just email us at help@BetterWorldBooks.com and we’ll be more than happy to answer them.

4. What does ex-library mean?

Many libraries supply us with books that they have taken out of circulation. These books may contain some or all of the normal library markings: a call number on the side of the book, a stamp identifying the library, or a card sleeve on the inside cover. The book is yours to keep, no late fees!

5. What forms of payment do you accept?

Paying for books is easy. Below is a list of all the payment methods that we’ll accept:

CREDIT CARDS
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express cards.

CHECK/DEBIT CARDS
We accept all Check/Debit cards with the MasterCard or Visa logo.

PAYPAL
PayPal allows anyone with an email address to securely, conveniently, and cost-effectively send and receive payments online using their bank account. It is free to open an account and send money using PayPal.

6. How do I redeem my gift certificate?

If you have received a gift certificate, congratulations! Redeeming it is simple. On the final checkout "Billing and Order Confirmation" page click the radio button for gift certificate as your payment method. Then paste your code in that box and click the "Apply" button to receive your discount.

7. How do I use a coupon code?

If you have received a coupon code, redemption is easy. During the checkout process there is a field for coupon codes entry. Type or paste your code in that box and click the "Apply" button to receive your discount.

Please note that only one coupon or special offer can be applied to your order at a time. When more than one coupon or offer applies, the one that most reduces the total price of your shopping cart is automatically applied. For example, if you have a 10% off coupon and you apply it to a shopping cart of 5 bargain bin books (5 books for $15), the bargain bin discount is larger so it is applied and the 10% off coupon is not.

8. Will I receive updates about my order?

We keep you updated every step of the way. If you haven’t received any emails from us, we’re sorry to hear that. We love communicating with our customers. Please check your email settings to make sure you are allowed to receive messages from help@BetterWorldBooks.com. You may also refer to your account page for status updates.

9. Can I change my address or upgrade my shipping?

Because of our fanatical dedication to getting orders out as quickly as possible, we may not be able to make the change you request. However, we’ll do our best; just send us an email at help@BetterWorldBooks.com as soon you know about the change.

10. What if I need to cancel my order?

Our speedy shipping team is one of the most efficient in the business, making it difficult to cancel orders once placed. However, if you need to cancel an order please let us know as soon as possible by sending us an email at help@BetterWorldBooks.com. In most cases your order will already be on its way, but we’ll do our best to catch it before it goes from our shelf to yours.

11. Need to return your purchase?

It’s easy. We have a very generous return policy. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
In most cases we are able to refund the book price within 30 days of purchase (45 days for international customers). Even if you end up not wanting the book, we’ll gladly take it back for a full refund of the purchase price of the book. While we seek perfection, we are still human and occasionally make mistakes. If we made an error with your order, we’ll cover the return shipping costs. If, however, your return is not due to an error with your order, then you are responsible for shipping costs of the return (this includes delivery refusals). If you need to return your books for any reason, send an email to help@BetterWorldBooks.com and we’ll be happy to help you out.

Please note, if you need to return a Marketplace book, it must be returned to the independent seller who shipped it to you - NOT to Better World Books. Information on how to do so can be found on your packing slip. If you no longer have your packing slip, please contact help@BetterWorldBooks.com to get the address for your return.

12. What are marketplace books and how does ordering them work?

Marketplace books are used or new books sold and shipped by independent booksellers. They may take longer to arrive than books shipped directly from Better World Books. Eco-Shipping is free in the USA, and $7.97 worldwide. Marketplace copies of a book do not qualify for our "bargain bin" pricing.

Other important facts about marketplace books:
  • Like every other book you buy from Better World Books, purchase of a marketplace book helps fund high impact literacy programs in the USA and around the world.
  • The amount of time your order will take to reach you depends on the items you're ordering and where the seller is located.
  • Marketplace books usually take 2 to 3 days to process before shipment, and items from non-U.S. and non-Canadian sellers may take up to three weeks to process.
  • Items shipped within the continental USA from marketplace sellers ship free with Eco-Shipping, typically take 4-14 days to deliver, and on occasion may be delayed up to 30 days.
  • Items shipped outside the USA from marketplace sellers ship for $7.97 each with International Shipping, typically take 3-4 weeks to deliver, and on occasion may be delayed up to 45 days.
  • Items shipped to Hawaii, Alaska, or APO addresses with Eco-Shipping typically takes 4-28 days to deliver. It can sometimes take longer than 31 days to reach Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO addresses.
  • Marketplace books are listed on other websites as well, and as a result about 5% of marketplace orders are canceled due to duplicate orders from other websites.
  • If you need to return a Marketplace book, it must be returned to the independent seller who shipped it to you - NOT to Better World Books. Information on how to do so can be found on your packing slip. If you no longer have your packing slip, please contact help@BetterWorldBooks.com to get the address for your return.
  • If you need assistance with a marketplace book order, you can still contact us directly at help@BetterWorldBooks.com.
