Residents in almost all areas of medicine and surgery spend time in the ICU during their training, and formal fellowships exist for critical care in anesthesiology, surgery, pulmonary medicine, and internal medicine. Critical care is currently responsible for the most significant growth of hospital capacity in the US, and due to a shortage of CC specialists physicians without formal training are being asked to spend more time in the ICU. The audience will include residents in both medicine and surgery, practitioners, and nurses. Content coverage will be brief but broad, encompassing all the subspecialty areas of critical care including adult and pediatric critical care, neuro-critical care, cardiac critical care, transplant, burn, and neonatal critical care.
