Comments about The Dressmaker of Khair Khana: Five Sisters, One Remarkable Family, and the Woman Who Risked Everything to Keep Them Safe:
This book was recommended to me by a fellow quilter and I bought it expecting to learn something about the local handcraft industry. Unfortunately it was written by a journalist student who glossed over the actual sewing, referred to self taught people working in their homes as tailors, and skipped full descriptions of the articles made. It did offer a view of life under the Taliban and details not widely known before. I felt the actual work of the family was misrepresented. The book has a back cover review by Angelina Jolie.
